LARCH AND CLOVER DRAINAGE PROJECT
Project Description
Project Location:
Larch Road: Corral Hollow Road to Tracy Boulevard; Clover Road: Corral Hollow Road to east end. See attached Vicinity Map.
Project Justification:
Larch Road and Clover Road are both located within a County maintained pocket area on the northern side of Tracy, California. The storm drainage consists of cross pipes, driveway pipes, and drainage ditches. The storm drainage systems are aging out and are becoming less reliant and unmaintainable. This project calls for the replacement of 120+ pipes along with reforming the ditches to grade for proper drainage. In the storms of 2017 and 2023, residential flooding took place in these neighborhoods. Public Works applied for and was awarded American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) funding for this project to replace as new all pipes and ditches.
Scope of Work:
The project will consist of:
1. Replacing and repairing the storm drain system on Larch Road and Clover Road.
2. Replacing driveway pipe (to County standards) and reestablishing roadside drainage ditches.
Environmental Setting:
In these portions of the San Joaquin County, land usage is mixed between residential and industrial.
There are many large trees adjacent to the project area. Nesting and migratory birds, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, may nest within these trees. Furthermore, the Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor species of concern within the State of California and listed as threatened may nest adjacent to or within the project area. A pre-construction survey for nesting Swainson’s Hawks and other migratory birds is recommended if construction is scheduled to occur from February 15th to September 1st.
Beneficiaries:
The public will see increased safety and fewer hazards with this repaired storm drainage system. Overall, there will be reduced maintenance concerns and more reliability within the project area.
