Type, Section or Code
CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 – Existing Facilities
Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The project is located within and directly adjacent to County right-of-way, along paved roadways, within urbanized areas. Subsection (c) includes existing streets, sidewalk, gutters, and similar facilities (including road grading for the purpose of public safety) and other alterations such as the addition of pedestrian crossings, street trees, and other alterations that do not create automobile lanes. Construction of the project would extend existing curb, gutter and sidewalk and create a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Polk Street and install streetlights along College Oak Drive. Therefore, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
