Document Description
Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) will replace two sections of failing soundwall along the west side of Sunrise Boulevard. Trees within the backyards of the adjacent properties will either be removed or pruned to minimize future damage to the new wall. Implementation of the project will include the pruning of 33 trees and the removal of 64 trees, including one multi-trunk (5-inch and 5-inch) valley oak (Quercus lobata). All pruning and removal of trees will be conducted in compliance with applicable Sacramento County policies and regulations.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 2 consists of the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures or facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The existing soundwall will be replaced in the same location and will not include an expansion of capacity or use and is therefore exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
