Document Description
The effects of community development in Eastern Municipal Water District's (EMWD) service area have led to increased nitrogen loading in the wastewater treatment system at Regional Water Reclamation Facilities (RWRF). Sidestream treatment is used to lower high strength ammonia concentrated in reject water from biosolids dewatering and aid with nitrogen reduction. Sidestream treatment would help Temecula Valley RWRF meet the effluent concentrations standards for nutrients without conducting major plant expansions. The scope of work includes: a centrate transfer pump station; centrate pipelines and cleanout vault; the construction of a sidestream treatment facility with two moving bed biofilm reactors and two sidestream equalization tanks; and a new concrete masonry unit sidestream service building with aeration air blowers, an electrical room, and a chemical room. Beneficiaries of the project are EMWD ratepayers.
