Document Description
Reclamation District 563 (RD 563) proposes to purchase 2.64 acres of land on which to construct an elevated solar array. The purpose of the project is to produce an alternative electrical energy source for the adjacent Tyler Island drainage pump station, the annual operating cost of which currently reaches $50- 60,000 per month. The solar array will consist of rack-mounted adjustable solar panels supported by 24 HP14 structural steel pile foundations embedded up to 50-feet deep. The array will be surrounded by a 10- foot wide access road. The total array footprint will be 1.3 acres:

Maintenance of existing structure (pump) and construction or minor placement of structure accessary to existing commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities. This project is exempt from CEQA review under Class 1, Section 15301 (1)(4) and Class 11, Section 15311, which provide an exemption for "Accessory Structures:" construction or minor placement of structures accessary to (appurtenant to) existing commercial, industrial or institutional facilities. The project is accessory to the power supply for the existing Tyler Island drainage system, which is in turn essential to the existing agricultural use. 1 The project was briefly examined as to its potential for significant environmental effects in the issue areas covered in the CEQA Guidelines Appendix G Environmental Checklist. The project does not have potential for significant effects in any of these issue areas.
