Water tanks are key assets in Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) ongoing mission to provide reliable water service. Exterior inspections and interior dive inspections revealed several water tanks operating at sub-optimal conditions, including deteriorated coating and corroded structural members in several tanks. Proper maintenance is required to ensure optimal protection of district assets and extension of the tank’s service life. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the following tanks: Broderson One Tank, Juniper Tank, Lower Las Brisas Two Tank, Lower Landmark One Tank, and Mills Tank.
The project includes the design and replacement of Broderson One Tank roof as well as installation of new roof vents, perimeter safety railing, replacement of cathodic protection system, and repair or replacement of corroded structural members for the Juniper, Lower Las Brisas Two, Lower Landmark One, and Mills Tanks. Beneficiaries of the project are EMWD ratepayers.

Reasons for Exemption
Implementation of the proposed project would result in the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing tank structures throughout EMWD’s service area. The roof and corroded structure replacement and installation of new vents, railing, and cathodic protection would not increase the capacity of the tanks or the service they provide but will instead increase the service life of the tanks.
