Document Description
Perform exterior, interior, and bathroom improvements at the Seiler residence at Bodie State Historic Park to prevent further deterioration, preserve historic integrity, and upgrade the quality of employee housing. Park maintenance crews will complete the following work:
Exterior siding repairs
• Remove existing siding on the south and east walls;
• Install new insulation in the exterior walls;
• Attach a black vapor barrier to the wall studs to protect the wall framing; and
• Install new siding that is milled and stained to match the existing siding.
Interior improvements
• In the living room, bedrooms, and kitchen: install a protective layer on top of existing original historic wallpaper;
• Use small brad nails to install white beadboard style wall paneling over the existing walls; and
• Paint the paneled walls.
Bathroom improvements
• Remove the existing clawfoot bathtub and store inside the Seiler residence;
• Build two (2) floor-to-ceiling walls for a new shower unit; and
• Remove and replace/update existing supply and drain lines as needed for the new shower.
