Weka, Inc. (Applicant) is proposing the development of a truck and trailer parking facility in the Town of Apple Valley, San Bernardino County. The Project Site is a 14.86-acre (gross) vacant parcel described as Assessor’s Parcel No. 0440-014-11; it is located on Waalew Road, west of Navajo Road. The Project Site is located in a relatively undeveloped area with scattered residential, commercial, and light industrial uses. The property has a General Plan designation and zoning of Planned Industrial. The Proposed Project is a permitted use for the Planned Industrial land use designation and zoning with the approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP).
The Proposed Project includes construction and operation of a truck and trailer parking facility. Access into the site would be via a 50-foot-wide driveway on Waalew Road. Secure access to the facility would then be via rolling gates at a proposed 52-square-foot guard shack, which includes a restroom. The facility would include 430 parking spaces in total: 426 spaces each at 12’ by 55’, 3 standard car spaces, and 1 handicap accessible space.
