Document Description
The 20-acre project site is located at 750 Heron Drive in Healdsburg, CA and is identified by the APNs 002-221-021, 002-281-012, 088-141-012, -015, -016. Existing facilities include a recreation field, playground, dog run, community garden, picnic areas, and a 46-space lot. City infrastructure on-site includes three wells, the Fitch Water Treatment Building, a PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) substation, and a UV treatment (shade) structure. The site contains forested areas with invasive vegetation, terraces to the Russian River with two promontories, and is bordered by residential uses to the north, west, and east, and the Russian River to the south. The General Plan designates the site as Park/Open Space and the site is zoned Public Use (P). The Badger Park Redevelopment Master Plan Project (proposed project) would implement a Master Plan to redevelop Badger Park with expanded community uses, improved river access, and invasive species management. Key components include a central field, 67-space parking lot with drop-off loop, ADA-compliant playground, relocated dog park, expanded community garden, and a permanent restroom. Additional features include sports courts, picnic areas, two overlooks, two trail bridges, widened trails, bank stabilization, creek crossings, and Russian River kayak access. Invasive vegetation would be removed to enhance habitat and views. Areas are reserved for future utility infrastructure, including a previously approved cryptosporidium treatment facility. Park hours (6:00 AM–11:00 PM) would not change.
