Document Description
As part of the California Stream Gage Improvement Program, the California Department of Water Resources has executed a contract with the Los Angeles County Flood Control District to install two stream gages on Pacoima Wash and Rio Hondo Channel to record hydrologic data in currently data-deficient areas. The proposed stream gage installation on Rio Channel will take place within a concrete channel on or adjacent to an existing bridge structure, while the stream gage installation on Pacoima Wash will be installed on or adjacent to an existing bridge structure within a previously disturbed area.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed stream gage installations would be installed to provide real-time data and monitor hydrologic conditions to assist staff in making water conservation and flood control operational decisions. Proposed activities qualify for categorical exemption 15306 (Information Collection). Proposed activities will take place within a concrete channel and previously disturbed areas and will not result in a significant impact to the environment and none of the exceptions described in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
