Document Description
Conduct geotechnical investigations at Austin Creek State Recreation area to identify soil conditions at potential building locations to guide the work of constructing and/or replacing facilities in the Day Use and Campground areas of the park for accessibility purposes. Work will use a truck-mounted drill, equipped with hollow-stem and/or solid flight augers to complete the following: In the area of the proposed new restroom and overlook: Drill two (2), 6-inch diameter by 15-foot-deep borings within the proposed restroom location; Drill five (5) 6-inch diameter by 15-foot-deep borings within areas proposed for new pavement; and Perform three (3) percolation tests in shallow boreholes in the area of a proposed new leach field. In the area of an existing leach field: Machine excavate 6-8 exploratory test pits, and hand excavate 15 test pits; and Drill one (1) 6-inch diameter by 15-foot-deep boring. Relative samples will be obtained from the borings, the borings will be logged in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (UCSC) and back filled with excavated materials.
