Document Description
The project would perform geotechnical investigations to inform the design of the future Yuba County Water Agency Marysville Headquarters Building within an existing developed area in the city of Marysville. The project consists of three (3) exploratory borings to a maximum depth of 30 feet using hollow stem auger methods. All three borings would be backfilled using stockpiled soils from the investigations and would be compacted using hand tools. The pavement would be patched/finished consistent with preexisting conditions. The proposed geotechnical investigations would be permitted in accordance with Yuba County requirements.

Reasons for Exemption
The CEQA Guidelines provide a series of categorical exemptions for projects that have been deemed to have minimal impacts on the environment. Categorical Exemption Class 6 exempts: " .. . basic data collection, research, experimental management, and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or maior disturbance to an environmental resource. These may be strictly for information gathering purposes, or as part of a study leading to an action which a public agency has not yet approved, adopted, or funded'. The exceptions to the issuance of categorical exemptions have been evaluated for the proposed project to further substantiate the use of Categorical Exemption, Class 6 Information Collection {Section 15306). The proposed geotechnical investigations have been determined to have no potential to cause significant adverse effects on the environment and will ensure that the design of the future headquarters building is consistent with current geotechnical standards compliant with local building codes and regulations .
