UC Davis proposes the NCP-4 Seismic Compliance DT All FLRs Project to comply with seismic regulations from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), which is responsible for implementing such regulations pertaining to general acute care hospital buildings. The project is located at the Davis Tower at the UCDH Hospital on the Sacramento Campus. The Project will upgrade the fire sprinkler system to meet requirements of NPC 4 for seismic compliance. Scope also includes installing new braces to the fire sprinkler system.

This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. The proposed project would provide interior renovations to an existing building. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
