Document Description
UC Davis proposes the Unitrans Facility South End Renovation Project to support the existing Unitrans program and functions. The project is located at the Unitrans’ Maintenance Facility, which is a 16,585 square foot building located at 800 Garrod Drive adjacent to the UC Davis Health Science District. The Project includes the renovation of approximately 1,200 sf of space at the south end of the Maintenance Facility including the following: selective demolition; wall infill at existing doors; framing and drywall; new doors and hardware; accessibility upgrades; renovation for two restrooms with new fixtures, interior finishes, plumbing modifications; new mechanical unit and ductwork; electrical and lighting modifications; new data lines and phone; and fire sprinklers and fire alarm modifications. The renovation will not cause any changes to existing building function or use. The footprint is also not being increased.

This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. The proposed project would provide interior renovations to an existing building. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
