Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SOL-55710-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to City of Vallejo as represented by Oscar Alcantar.
The Project is limited to the removal of approximately 13,110 square feet of deteriorated timber floating docks and approximately 104, 14-inch diameter timber piles occupying approximately 112 square feet that make up the Vallejo Marina A Dock. The removal of the A Dock is required by the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) to comply with the conditions of BCDC permit no. 1986.001 and will not be applied to any other projects for the purposes of mitigation or restoration credit. The removal of the docks and piles will be performed from the water via barge. No land-side staging areas will be used. The piles will be removed with the aid of a vibratory hammer attachment wherever feasible and directly pulled out via crane to minimize siltation and avoid damaging the piles during removal. If a pile cannot be extracted or breaks during the removal process, the contractor will cut the pile one (1) foot below mudline. No piles will be installed in the Project area, and the vibratory hammer will only be used to loosen the piles for removal by vibrating them. The Project will result in temporary impacts to approximately 13,222 square feet of tidally influenced aquatic habitat which will then be allowed to recover. After dock and pile removal concludes, the site will be monitored to ensure recovery proceeds without inadvertent impacts or complications from Project activities. No additional area will be impacted or restored as part of the Project.
