Document Description
A proposal to establish a 150-foot galvanized monopole (cell tower) in a 2,500 square foot lease area that will be surrounded by an 8-foot tall chain link fence for security. The lease area will contain three (3) equipment cabinets, one (1) GPS antenna, three (3) service lights, one (1) fiber telco box and one (1) surge suppressor. The equipment shelter will be covered by a shade cover to circumvent extreme weather. Pole mounted equipment includes six (6) 6-foot panel antennas, three (3) 3-foot panel antennas, six (6) remote radio units and one (1) surge suppressor. Also mounted to the pole are two (2) 4-foot microwave dishes. The applicant is also proposing to establish an on-site 30KW generator with a 203 gallon diesel tank within the 2,500 square foot lease space, in the event of a commercial power failure. The project will be located at 27031 Omaha Avenue, Kettleman City, Assessor's Parcel Number 036-120-033.

The proposed project is Categorically Exempt from environmental review pursuant to Section 15303 of the Guidelines for the California Environmental Quality Act. Class 3 consists of construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure. The project for Conditional Use Permit No. 25-02 proposes the construction of a monopole (cell tower) that encompasses a 2,500 sq.ft. area, and due to the limited area and size, can be considered a small structure/facility.
