Document Description
The purpose of this project is to install automatic gate openers at 3 visitor entrances at Mount Diablo State Park to ensure public access during park open hours regardless of staff availability. Work will: At the Mitchell Canyon Day Use and Sector Entrances: Use a gas-powered auger to dig 36-inch-deep x 8-inch in diameter holes; Set 12-foot x 1.5-inch poles 36-inches below grade and backfill with concrete; Use heavy equipment to excavate a 16-inch-wide x 36-inch-deep x up to 30 foot long trench at Mitchell Canyon Sector Office entrance gate and install an exit probe, then backfill with native material; and Use hand-held power tools to cut the current gate from its post and re-weld to a 90-degree inbound swing. At the Macedo Ranch Entrance: Use a gas-powered auger to dig 36-inch-deep x 8-inch diameter holes; Set 12-foot x 1.5-inch poles 36 inches below grade and backfill with concrete; Use heavy equipment to excavate a 16-inch-wide x 36-inch deep x up to 30 foot long trench from swing post to swing post; and Install a 1-inch diameter PVC power conduit and backfill with native material. At North Gate Day Use Entrance and Exit: Use a gas-powered auger to dig 36-inch-deep x 8-inch diameter holes; Set 12-foot x 1.5-inch poles 36 inches below grade and backfill with concrete; and Re-connect gates.
