Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency proposes to install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) and various crosswalk enhancements to unsignalized intersections throughout the unincorporated communities of Alameda County that are recommended in the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools Study. RRFB and crosswalk enhancements will be installed at the following nine (9) intersections: Meekland Avenue at Medford Avenue; Meekland Avenue at Sunset Boulevard; Hacienda Avenue at Ricardo Avenue; Grove Way at Dolores Street; D Street at Twin Creeks Court; Ashland Avenue at Bertero Avenue; 164th Avenue at Helo Drive; Castro Valley BART Station at Norbridge Avenue; and Grove Way at Haviland Avenue. The RRFB will be solar powered and added to existing unistrut posts or furnished with a new post as needed. Crosswalk enhancements would include installing ADA-accessible curb ramps, high visibility crosswalks, advance yield lines, and “Yield Here to Pedestrians” signs. The purpose of the project is to increase safety for pedestrians.
