Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project qualifies for a Class 1 Categorical Exemption (Existing Facilities) under Article 19 of the California Code of Regulations (Cal. Code Regs. tit. 14 § 15301) as it involves (a) the exterior alteration to an existing facility and (d) the restoration or rehabilitation of a deteriorated or damaged structures to meet current standards of public health and safety.
The project also qualifies for a Class 31 Categorical Exemption (Historical Resource Restoration/Rehabilitation) under Article 19 of the California Code of Regulations (Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 14 § 15331) in that the project is limited to maintenance, repair, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, conservation or reconstruction of historical resources in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for Rehabilitation.
