Class 1, Section 15301(c)
Reasons for Exemption
The reconstruction project involves removing the existing median landscape, trees, and pavement structural section, and reconstructing a new median with landscape and hardscape features. Additionally, the project entails reconstructing the roadway pavement on Steeplechase Drive from Ironwood Avenue to Kalmia Avenue. Work will also include the construction of concrete curbs and gutters along both sides of the roadway to convey drainage. The project will not add any additional lanes or increase street capacity to the street listed above. The paving and curb/gutter work will be within the existing street widths. This improvement is consistent with the guidance for City capital projects provided in the City’s Rules and Procedures for the Implementation of CEQA (Section 5.1.2). Therefore, this Project qualifies for the identified exemption, and no further environmental review is required.
