Document Description
The County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to widen Pourroy Rd north of Pourroy Rd / (future)Butterfield Stage Rd intersection (GPS location: 33.570195, -117.101661) to provide an additional receiving lane that will provide two (2) eastbound lanes to northbound left turn lanes. The second northbound receiving lane will be 225 feet long then transition back to a single lane. The purpose of the project is to improve the signal operation and reduce congestion on Pourroy Road west of the traffic signal.
The proposed project will also include:
• Vegetation removal from 60 feet behind existing edge pavement
• Concrete removal (v-ditch)
• Construction of retaining wall
• Asphalt concrete paving
• Striping modifications on Pourroy Road both west and north of the existing traffic signal These minor road improvements (Project) will take place within County right of way.

Reasons for Exemption
The County of Riverside Transportation Department has found that the above-described project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), based on the following:
Section 15301 (c) – Existing Facilities – The proposed maintenance activity will provide an additional receiving lane (non-capacity increasing) that will provide two (2) eastbound lanes to northbound left turn lanes. The purpose of the project is to improve the signal operation and reduce traffic congestion on Pourroy Road west of the traffic signal. The project in its entirety is consistent with Section 15301(c) because the project involves repairing and maintenance of an existing road (Pourroy Road) and associated facilities.
