Document Description
As part of the California Stream Gage Improvement Program, the California Department of Water Resources has executed a contract with the Monterrey County Water Resources Agency to replace and upgrade an existing bridge-mounted stream gage on a pedestrian bridge over the Salinas River in King City. The stream gage will be similarly mounted to the bridge rail and consist of a radar sensor, small solar system, new satellite telemetry, existing radio telemetry, and associated antennas. No excavation, grading, or vegetation removal is anticipated.

Reasons for Exemption
Proposed stream gage replacement/upgrade would be installed at the same location on an existing bridge structure to provide real-time data, monitor hydrologic conditions during storm events, and provide hydrological information to the public. Proposed activities qualify for categorical exemptions 15301 (Existing Facilities), 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), and 15306 (Information Collection). The bridge is not designated a historic resource, and no excavation, grading, or vegetation removal is anticipated. Proposed activities will not result in a significant impact to the environment and none of the exceptions described in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
