Document Description
The project is for the construction of eight new pickleball courts in a currently underutilized open section of Bloomfield Park on the north side adjacent to the parking lot. The courts will be fully lighted and enclosed with fencing. Additional site improvements will include new seating areas, drinking fountains, trash bins, shade structures, and installation of accessible paths. The existing basketball court area will also be upgraded. The project will include court paving improvements, restriping, fence enhancements, and new basketball court standards. A dividing cement wall will be removed to expand the space and open for play, allowing for the addition of a third full-size basketball court. Improvements will also include the renovation of accessible pathways to ensure compliance and ease of access throughout the area. Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Other public agencies whose approval for this project may be required include the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
