Document Description
Caltrans is developing a State-Funded project in Lake and Mendocino Counties at Various Locations. Work will consist of replacing obsolete Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) units and associated communication equipment, traffic signal heads, interconnecting wiring, and ancillary cabinet components. The project includes replacing obsolete equipment cabinets, internal controllers, and replacing defective electronic components and switches within existing Changeable Message Sign (CMS) boards. In addition, there will be replacement of traffic count devices, inductive loop detectors, and communication hardware. All work will be within the existing State right of way. Equipment staging will be confined to existing paved surfaces and existing non-vegetated turnouts, if applicable. There will be no tree removal. Except for construction area signs, no soil or vegetation disturbance will occur outside the pavement limits. The purpose of this project is to address technology lifecycle of the core Traffic Management Systems (TMS) assets. Supporting the systematic overhaul of aging resources by replacing assets which are at the end of their lifecycle, using obsolete technology, or are in poor condition. This project will install census equipment upgrades, CCTV replacement, and CMS repairs.
