Document Description
The proposed project would renovate Smith Park at 232 West Broadway in San Gabriel, California (91776), which is generally bounded by West Broadway (to the north), Junipero Serra Drive (to the west), Clary Avenue (to the south), and South San Marino Avenue (to the east). Smith Park is approximately 6 acres; the size of the park would not change as a result of the proposed project. The proposed project would include, but is not limited to, the following:
Renovated pool;
Renovated pool building and restrooms to include "family" restrooms;
Added picnic structure adjacent to the pool;
Removal of outdated playground structure and addition of new ADA accessible
playground;
Added pathways throughout the park;
Installation of LED lighting;
Installation of drought-tolerant landscaping; and
Installation of low-flow toilets/sinks in restrooms and locker rooms.
These improvements are contingent upon the receipt of LWCF grant funding from the Federal
Government.

The proposed project is a renovation / restoration of an existing City of San Gabriel park facility. Smith Park is approximately 6 acres; the size of the park would not change as a result of the proposed project. Improvements to be completed as a result of the proposed project involve existing facilities with negligible or no expansion of the use, replacement or reconstruction of existing structures or facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose/capacity, new construction of small structures, and protection of the environment (preservation of publicly-accessible open space/landscapes)
