Document Description
The Project proposes renovation of an existing two-story building and the addition of a new 3-story building located at the north end of the existing building. The existing two-story building, prior to renovation, is 30,873 square feet. The existing two-story building, after renovation, would be 32,525 square feet (sf), and would be reconfigured and renovated to support classroom and office spaces for Scripps College, and specifically, for the Scripps College Psychology Department. The exterior of the existing two-story building would be remodeled, including the addition of windows and new finishes. The 3-story addition would be 32,476 sf and would include two dance studios (Studios A and B), a large classroom, offices, and support spaces.

The Project is consistent with applicable general plans and zoning designations, located within the city’s limits on a site 5 acres or less (at 1.65 acres), is bordered by urban uses, and would not result in significant impacts to traffic, noise, air quality, or water quality. The Project site is devoid of sensitive habitat and adequately served by public utilities. Further, the Project does not meet any of the exceptions to categorical exemptions under CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2.
