Reasons for Exemption
Class One consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features including existing highways, streets, sidewalks, gutters and pedestrian trails, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The project includes the replacement of temporary pavement with permanent pavement within existing SCWA right-of-way. There would be no removal of structures, vegetation, or trees. As the project involves the repair of existing streets, the project would not involve the expansion of existing or former use and is therefore exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
