Reasons for Exemption
This project is exempt from CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Existing Facilities). Section 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), and Section 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land). 15301 applies since the project involves the repair and maintenance of an existing sewer system. 15302 applies since the project involves the replacement or reconstruction of the existing sewer system which is located in substantially the same site and have the same purpose as the system being replaced. Section 15304 applies since the project involves trenching for the sewer lines and backfilling where the surface is restored to substantially the same condition. In accordance with Section 15300.2, which stipulates the exceptions to CEQA categorical exemptions, the proposed project would not result in a significant cumulative impact or significant effect on the environment nor would it impact scenic highways, hazardous waste sites, or historical resources. Accordingly, the proposed project is exempt from the requirements of CEQA.
