The contractor will also participate in this assessment process. The purpose of the project is to gather information about the best approach to restore the functionality of the bypass structures at the RP-3 Diversion Structure.

Reasons for Exemption
The State CEQA Guidelines provide a series of categorical exemptions for projects that have been deemed to have minimal impacts on the environment. The purpose of project is to the gather information about the best approach to restore the functionality of the bypass structures at the RP-3 Diversion Structure. Since the proposed project is exploratory in nature, and would not result in serious or major disturbance to any environmental resources, the proposed project has been determined to have no potential to cause significant adverse effects on the environment. Categorical Exemption “Class 6 consists of basic data collection, research, experimental management, and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource. These may be strictly for information gathering purposes, or as part of a study leading to an action which a public agency has not yet approved, adopted, or funded.” The proposed project has been determined not to have a potential to cause significant adverse environmental effects if it is implemented. Therefore, this proposed action is not forecast to cause any potential for significant adverse environmental impacts and qualifies with the requirements for Class 6 Exemption.
