Document Description
On June 30, 2025, the Board of Directors for NSJWCD approved a Water Purchase Agreement ("Agreement") with WID. WID and NSJWCD are both Groundwater Sustainability Agencies with adjacent service areas and shared landowners and growers, and an interest in achieving groundwater sustainability. NSJWCD is unlikely to receive an allocation of water under its water right for 2025, whereas WID expects to receive its full 60,000 acre-feet allocation for 2025 and have some water available to transfer as a result of fallowing and other interim conservation measures in WID. NSJWCD will purchase up to 3,000 af of WID water for use in NSJWCD during 2025. The water will be diverted by NSJWCD from existing diversion facilities and used for irrigation or recharge activities in NSJWCD on existing irrigated lands or in existing recharge facilities. Operations and diversion and use of WID Water pursuant to this temporary Agreement will be consistent with NSJWCD's historic, ongoing, and periodic diversions using its existing infrastructure ("Baseline Conditions").
