Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a California Endangered Species Act and Native Plant Protection Act permit pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) to Dr. Jodi McGraw (Permit No. 2081(a)-25-013-RP) for a project to collect Santa Cruz wallflower seed from the Pace Family Wilderness Parcel for ex-situ conservation seed banking purposes. In May 2025, the population of Santa Cruz wallflower at the project location was censused to include a total of 11 adult individuals, 27 seedlings, and 12 juveniles. In July or August 2025, the Permittee will collect up to 5 percent of the seed from each of the adult individuals by counting the number of developed fruits, collecting 5 percent of the fruits along the length of the inflorescence, and storing the fruits of each plant in separate marked envelopes to ensure seed is collected and stored along maternal lines. Seed will be temporarily stored at the Permittee’s laboratory before being transferred to a CDFW-approved facility that has agreed to accept the seeds for long-term conservation storage.
