Document Description
Removing hazardous trees along the San Lorenzo Valley Water District's 5-Mile Pipeline, which needs to be reconstructed after being destroyed in the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Wildfire. The 2020 CZU Lightning Complex wildfire destroyed portions of the San Lorenzo Valley Water District's pipeline system which provides water to approximately 23,700 customers and damaged trees. This project would remove hazardous trees as a first step in replacing the pipeline.

The Declared Emergency, Statutory Exemption 15269(a) applies to this project because it involves emergency repairs due to damages caused by wildfires listed in a proclamation of emergency declared by the Governor (see Attachment A), pertaining to wildfires that were burning throughout the state including the CZU Lightning Fire (FEMA Disaster FM-5336-CA). This area was also affected by the 2022 winter storms (FEMA Disaster DR-4683-CA) which resulted in erosion. The project facilitates replacement or reconstruction of existing water utility pipelines.
