Document Description

The work consists of collecting soil data information resulting in temporary minor ground disturbance. These activities will not result in any significant disturbance to environmental resources. In preparation for the proposed Battle Creek Confluence Side Channel Project, a total of 3 geo-technical excavation sites are being proposed within an adjacent flood channel lo evaluate the composition of soils within the proposed side channel excavation area. A long-reach excavator and hand crew would excavate a soil trench at each of the 3 sites approximately 25' in length and 12-17' in depth or until the water table is reached. The excavated material would be temporarily stock oiled adjacent to the excavation sites for analysis. Following evaluation, the excavated material would be backfilled into its appropriate soil horizons within the trench. Vegetation would be pruned and removed along the access routes and within and immediately adjacent to the proposed excavation sites.
