Document Description
The UC Davis California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) proposes the Bidirectional Residential Integration for Dispatchable Grid Energy (BRIDGE) project which will conduct research on integrating electrical vehicle charging and residential communication systems. The location for this research is at two existing locations at a leased facility at 633 Pena Drive in Davis and at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology building at UC Irvine. The project will install temporary EV charging and battery storage equipment on test benches inside the existing laboratory buildings and utilize mobile solar panels staged in parking areas. The locations for this project are not within a campus LRDP.

This project qualifies as categorical Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment involving negligible or no expansion of an existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
