The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a project to install trash netting and trash capture housing at 54 locations in Sacramento and Yolo counties at various routes (Routes 5, 50, 51, 80, 99). These locations were chosen due to their moderate to high trash generation rates, which includes high litter, debris, and solids buildup. The project is needed to address concerns related to trash buildup along highways and surrounding communities. It will provide an efficient method of collection for Caltrans Maintenance crews. The project also proposes newly paved Maintenance Vehicle Pullouts (MVPs).
