Document Description
ICBHS has been providing services to children, youth, and their families in locations within close proximity to their residences to eliminate barriers to accessing mental health services. Due to its centralized location, the El Centro Children's and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, located at 120 N. 8th Street, has been providing services to residents from the cities of El Centro, Heber, Holtville, Imperial, and Seeley. The facility was originally a motel built in 1947 and was purchased by the County in 1974 to convert it into offices. The facility has been utilized by ICBHS since 1974, with minor changes and minor remodeling done to the structure. ICBHS has not been able to maximize the use of the space as the facility continues to have some of the original kitchenettes, showers, and closets that are solely used for storage. The configuration of the building has prevented ICBHS from increasing clinical staff at this location, limiting the mental health services provided to children and youth. The remodel of the clinic will augment capacity to mitigate the rising trends in mental health service utilization by children and youth.
