Create fuel breaks by re-clearing portions of existing roadbeds, and removing vegetation from along those roads. Locations of fuel breaks were designed in partnership with Cal Fire to minimize the scope of work while provide increased firefighting capacity in the I80 corridor and the Wildlife Urban Interface.

Reasons for Exemption
The roads selected for this project were either established before was acquired by CDFW or were converted from dozer line or fuel breaks associated with previous fires. They have since become substantially overgrown. This project can be also seen as road maintenance and restoring access to its former state. Minimal alterations to land occur in this project. Only .05% of the Truckee River Wildlife Area will be impacted by this fuel break.
