Document Description
Caltrans proposes to repair damaged asphalt concrete (AC) pavement on eastbound SR-37 in Sonoma County from post mile (PM) 4.07, Tolay Creek, to PM 6.00, at the west end of Sonoma Creek Bridge. Due to this past winter’s intense storms, pavement sections and the underlying substructures in this area have become over-saturated, leading to accelerated pavement deterioration, including potholes, rutting, and structural failures that compromise both safety and ride quality for motorists. The pavement has deteriorated to a condition such that immediate repair is necessary in order to restore roadway functionality, ensure safety, and meet the public’s expectations for reliable travel. The project will involve cold planing the existing AC pavement to restore the surface to the specified profile. Bumps, ruts, and other surface irregularities will be removed. Hot mix asphalt (HMA) (Type A) will then be placed, tack coat applied, and pavement striping and markings replaced. Traffic control will be required during construction.
