Document Description
Caltrans proposes to repair a slip out on southbound Highway 1 in San Mateo County at post mile R47.8. Stormwater runoff during the heavy rainfall this past winter caused slope erosion in the gore area between Highway 1 and the Sullivan Avenue onramp. To mitigate further damage and provide a temporary solution, Field Maintenance crews placed sandbags along the pavement edge. To address the issue permanently, Caltrans proposes to install additional drainage inlets in the area to intercept stormwater runoff and prevent further slope deterioration. Construction will involve installing an 18-inch high-density polyethylene plastic pipe and drainage inlet to improve surface water interception. The eroded slope will be repaired using landscape mitigation methods and rock slope protection. K-rail will be placed, and traffic control will be used during construction.
