Document Description
The City of Huron proposes a pedestrian improvement project on Caltrans right-of-way through an encroachment permit. The project includes the construction of a pedestrian sidewalk, curb and gutter, and asphalt concrete plug along the east and west sides of Lassen Ave. A raised median and pavement striping would be installed within the roadway, and a new railroad warning device/signal would be constructed. These signals would be installed in the raised median and along the east and west sides of Lassen Ave. The project would require demolition and disposal of materials not being reused (e.g., pavement and concrete) as part of the project improvements. Excavation is anticipated to a maximum depth of 1.5 feet. The project would improve pedestrian accessibility on SR 269 and near the railroad by increasing sidewalk connectivity in the downtown corridor and providing an alternative, non-motorized means of accessing schools, health centers, and daycares around the project area. Commercial and industrial businesses near the improvements will also be more accessible.
