Document Description
Emergency work was completed in 2023 to repair an existing storm drain outlet that had failed causing concern for slope failure. The Project would include further repairs to permanently address the slope stability concerns. The Project includes the installation of a soil nail wall and drainage improvements to convey stormwater to the basin without further slope degradation. A small portion (15’ wide) of the slope would be re-graded to accommodate the repairs. Any vegetation disturbed by the project would be replaced at the completion of the Project.

The Project would occur at Bond Basin, an existing recharge basin located in the City of Orange northwest of the intersection of Hewes Avenue and Bond Street. Bond Basin occurs in a primarily developed residential community. The coordinates are 33.80011940487998, -117.80766667857077. The site is located along Santiago Creek and was formerly developed for gravel mining activities. The project site occurs in the extreme southeastern corner of the basin, where urgent slope stabilization efforts are needed to alleviate any potential for slope failure impacting roads and/or nearby private properties.
