Document Description
The Project involves constructing an 83,369-square-foot, two-story addition to the Desert Valley Hospital (hospital). The first floor will connect to the hospital via a widened corridor, and the second floor will connect via a new bridge. The existing ground-level helipad will be removed and replaced with a rooftop helipad on the new structure. A service yard on the northeastern portion of the Project site will include a pump house, cooling tower, chiller room, and electrical rooms. Adjacent to the service yard, a bulk oxygen storage yard will be built, along with two underground emergency water storage tanks. Project activities include grading of the entire Project location, building construction, trench digging, pile driving, road and parking lot construction, and landscaping. The Project will result in incidental take of 3 western Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia), which is protected under the WJTCA and the California Endangered Species Act. The WJTCA ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of western Joshua tree that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
