Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SMO-58602-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to California Water Service Company.
The project is limited to removing temporary rock slope protection and stabilizing an eroding bankside along Bear Creek to prevent bank failure and protect an existing 20- inch raw water main. A soil nail and shotcrete wall, comprising 125 linear feet will be buried in the bank, not exposed to creek flows, and not visible except for a small portion of the top of the wall above the 100-year flow water surface elevation. From the toe of the bank extending approximately four feet up the bank, two sizes of irregularly shaped rock revetment will be installed. A bioengineered soil slope will be installed above the rock toe in the middle of the project reach and will extend four feet from the top of the revetment to above the 100-year flow level and will conform to a 1.5H:1V slope. The soil slope and project access areas will be revegetated after project construction. One big leaf maple tree, 10-inches in diameter at breast height, will be removed during project construction near the upstream end of the project area. After removal the tree will be salvaged and incorporated into the bank stabilization design near the toe of the slope near the upstream end of the project area.
