Document Description
Caltrans proposes to repair roadway settlement and caving from post mile 18.91 to 19.29 on Highway 1 in Marin County. The settlement and caving were caused by over-saturation of the embankment due to a series of excessive rain events during January 2025. The surface water and oversaturation caused the soils under and adjacent to the roadway to collapse, ultimately resulting in pavement settlement and a small slope failure at three locations in the project area. The scope of work includes repairing the damaged sections of roadway using compaction grouting, replacing the roadside ditch drainage infrastructure, and stabilizing the fallen slope using native soils.
