Document Description
The City of Redding (City) proposes to conduct ongoing operation, general maintenance, and repair activities at the West Central Landfill. As required to provide continuous service and protect the health and safety of the public, work will involve; controlling leachate; repairing fill cover; installing erosion controls; monitoring, controlling and remediating methane levels; controlling and collecting windblown materials; weighing and measuring loads; directing the public to disposal locations; transporting, dumping, crushing and then covering waste with soil; controlling dust; maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools; placing hazardous waste materials in containers and preparing for transport.

West Central Landfill facilities and equipment will undergo general operation, repair, and maintenance over the course of fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027; however, these activities will result in negligible or no expansion of use. The action area is limited to the landfill, applicable regulatory agency permits are on file, and the purpose of this activity is to maintain proper functioning of the landfill. The project has no potential to have a significant effect on the environment.
