Document Description
The project proposes to overlay asphalt concrete travelled lanes and shoulders with 0.10’ Rubberized Open Graded Friction Course (RHMA-O) surface layer underlain by new 0.15’ Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt – Type G (RHMA-G) layer underlain by 0.10’ Hot Mix Asphalt - Type A (HMA-A) layer. The overlay may be placed following cold planing of 0.35’ thick existing asphalt concrete surface which will maintain the existing profile grade.
Prior to overlay, all localized highly distressed spots or areas should be dug-out to a maximum of 0.5’ and backfilled with new HMA-A and the existing 0.10’ Open Grade Asphalt Concrete (OGAC) layer from PM 15.42 to PM 24.76 should be removed.
The proposed project also includes the following improvements:
• Strengthening soil through the application of compaction grouting and
expanded polyurethane material (EPM) at discrete locations,
• At PM 9.72, replace existing Metal Beam Guardrail with Midwest Guardrail
System, replace existing concrete barrier, upgrade guardrail connections, place
vegetation control concrete, and replace end treatments,
• Replace all existing AC dikes,
• Upgrade 12 curb ramps to current ADA standards,
• Modify sidewalks at upgraded curb ramps,
• Modify drainage systems at upgraded curb ramps,
• Replace curb & gutter as needed,
• Install enhanced wet/night visibility striping with high-performance glass beads,
• Upgrade/replace/relocate road signs if damaged,
