Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Statutory Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Statutory Exemption for Routine Maintenance of Stormwater Facilities (Public Resources Code 21080.61)
Reasons for Exemption
The Project would not increase the designed conveyance capacity of Coyote Canal. Coyote Canal is earthen and concrete lined, and has a conveyance capacity of less than the 100-year storm event. The Project would be implemented by Valley Water, who has adopted standard Best Management Practices (BMPs) to minimize impacts from construction equipment, sediment, and pollutants. All work would occur within previously disturbed areas and within the existing footprints of the canal and canal maintenance road. The Project would not disturb native soils and is not likely to result in adverse impacts to Tribal Cultural Resources.
