Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15301, Section 15302, Section 15314
Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 applies to the Project because the Project entails minor alteration of existing facilities at Valencia High School. The Project would not increase the square footage of school buildings or facilities, nor would it expand school or community uses or operations of the existing District facilities. Class 2 applies to the Project because the Project would result in the in-kind replacement of an existing ceramics kiln at Valencia High School, which would not result in an increase in physical space or school enrollment capacity and would have the same purpose as the existing school facilities being replaced. Class 14 applies to the Project because the Project consists of a minor addition to Valencia High School within existing school grounds, and the Project would not increase the original student capacity by more than 25 percent or school size by 10 or more classrooms. None of the exceptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the Project.
