Document Description
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) is proposing the temporary reuse of an existing hay and soil storage area as a construction material storage site. The materials that are currently stored in this location would be located temporarily elsewhere within other developed areas of campus associated with agricultural programming. The majority of materials that would be storage at the site (as currently envisioned) would be modular housing units. Modular units would be approximately 14 feet in height and would not be stacked within the project site. No permanent structures would be placed on the project site, but a temporary on-site guard structure would be provided for security purposes. Prior to use of the site for storage, a geofabric would be placed over the entire site. Decomposed granite or other appropriate material would then be laid across the geofabric and straw wattles would be placed along the boundaries of the site to prevent the transport of soils/material offsite during a rain event.
