Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15301, Class 1
Reasons for Exemption
The Section 15301 (Class 1) exemption applies to the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public facilities involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. Section 15301(c) specifically includes "existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities." The project is consistent with the Class 1 exemption because it will consist of adding pedestrian facilities (sidewalks) along both sides of Campus Drive within the project site. The project would not expand the existing use of street, it would only enhance safety for bicyclists and pedestrians.
